Phi Phi Island Tour Price for Indians: Phuket vs Krabi (2026)

A Phi Phi island tour is the day trip almost every Indian traveller to Phuket or Krabi ends up taking: limestone cliffs, Pileh Lagoon, Viking Cave, Maya Bay and a snorkelling stop or two. Prices vary widely, because "Phi Phi tour" covers everything from a big ferry to a small early-morning speedboat. This guide explains what the price difference buys, adds the costs tours often leave out, and shows the live prices for the Phi Phi tours TripCabinet sells.

Phi Phi island tour price: the quick answer

Expect three layers of cost:

  • The tour itself. A ferry day trip is the cheapest way to see the islands. Speedboat and catamaran tours cost more but reach more stops. Current prices for each are in the table below.
  • The national park fee. Phi Phi is part of Hat Noppharat Thara–Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park. Foreign visitors pay 400 baht per adult (about ₹1,150) and 200 baht per child (about ₹575). Some tours include it and some collect it on the day, so check.
  • Hotel pick-up. Some tours include it and some charge extra or start from a meeting point.

Rupee figures use the exchange rate on 17 September 2026 (1 baht ≈ ₹2.9).

What the table does not show at a glance:

  • Park fees. The speed catamaran tour and the Phi Phi + Maya + Bamboo speedboat tour include the park fee. The Krabi early-bird tour lists park fees as excluded, so budget the 400 baht per adult on top.
  • Pick-up. The Love Andaman speedboat tour has two options, from the meeting point or with hotel pick-up, and the price difference between them is the cost of the transfer.
  • The Krabi ferry is a transfer, not a tour. The one-way Krabi–Phi Phi tickets are for travellers who want to stay a night or two on Phi Phi Don rather than see it in a day.
  • Child age bands differ. Most tours price children aged 4–11; others use 4–10, 3–10 or 2–4.

From Phuket or from Krabi?

Phi Phi sits in the Andaman Sea between Phuket and Krabi, and good day tours leave from both. Book from wherever you are staying rather than crossing over to save a little. Phuket tours in our range include the Love Andaman speedboat, the speed catamaran and the ferry. From Krabi, the early-bird tours aim to reach the islands before the main crowd, and one combines Phi Phi with a four-island tour.

Speedboat, catamaran or ferry?

  • Ferry: the lowest price, a larger boat and a steadier ride for anyone worried about seasickness, but fewer stops.
  • Speedboat: reaches Pileh Lagoon, Viking Cave, Maya Bay and snorkelling spots in one day. Expect a bumpier ride and plenty of sun.
  • Speed catamaran: sits between the two. You can move around the deck instead of sitting for the whole crossing, which families with young children often prefer.

Maya Bay: closure dates and rules

Maya Bay, the beach from the film The Beach, now runs under strict rules:

  • It closes every year for recovery. In 2026 the closure runs from 1 August to 30 September, and the bay reopens on 1 October. Phi Phi tours still run during the closure but do not enter Maya Bay.
  • Boats no longer land on the beach. They drop visitors at Loh Samah Bay on the other side of Phi Phi Leh, where a short boardwalk leads to the beach.
  • Swimming is not allowed at Maya Bay. Visitors can wade in to about knee depth. Swimming is allowed at Pileh Lagoon, where most speedboat tours stop.
  • Time on the beach is limited to about an hour.

If a tour description says "swim at Maya Bay", read it as swimming elsewhere on the route.

Tips for Indian travellers

  • Vegetarian lunch: most tours include lunch, but ask for vegetarian or Jain food when you book, not on the boat.
  • Go early: early-bird tours are worth the alarm clock, because they aim to reach the islands before most day-trip boats arrive.
  • Pack for sun and water: sunscreen, a cap, a dry bag for your phone and a change of clothes. Carry some cash for park fees if your tour does not include them.
  • Check your entry rules first: Indian passport holders currently get a 30-day visa exemption for Thailand. See our Thailand visa guide for Indians.
