If Thailand for you means clear water and limestone cliffs rather than malls, skip Bangkok. This Phuket Krabi tour package splits 5 nights between Patong and Ao Nang, the two bases that make the Andaman islands easy to reach. You get the Phi Phi speedboat day, a Phuket island tour and the Krabi four-island hop, and you stay in 3-star ibis hotels with pools. Phuket has the nightlife, the shopping and the flight connections. Krabi is quieter, and the islands are right off the beach at Ao Nang. Staying in both means neither boat day starts with a two-hour road trip. Phi Phi goes out from Phuket on day 2; the four islands go from Ao Nang on day 5.

Three nights at ibis Phuket Patong, a walk from the beach, then two nights at ibis Styles Krabi Ao Nang, which runs a shuttle down to Ao Nang beach. After immigration, the shared airport minibus leaves from the arrivals level and drops passengers hotel by hotel. Allow an hour to an hour and a half to reach ibis Phuket Patong. Once you have had a swim, walk down to Patong Beach for sunset. Bangla Road, the loud end of town, is close by on foot.
Early pick-up for the speedboat to Phi Phi. The loop covers Pileh Lagoon (the swim stop most people remember), Maya Bay from the boardwalk, Viking Cave and a snorkel stop, then Bamboo Island for the afternoon on the sand. Breakfast, lunch and soft drinks are on the tour. Carry cash for any park fee the operator asks for.

A slower day after the boat. The shared tour picks you up for Wat Chalong, the colourful shophouses of Phuket Old Town, and Karon Viewpoint, where you see three bays in one frame. There are shopping stops at a honey farm and a cashew factory too. You are back by mid-afternoon. The evening is free, and FantaSea or Simon Cabaret can be added if you want a show.

Check out after breakfast for the shared minivan to Krabi, about three hours across the Sarasin Bridge and through Phang Nga. Check in at ibis Styles Krabi Ao Nang. In the late afternoon, take the hotel shuttle down to Ao Nang beach. The longtail counters there sell tickets to Railay if you want a quick hop before sunset.
Speedboat day from Ao Nang. First stop is Phra Nang Cave Beach, then the Tup Island sandbar, which you can walk across to Koh Mor at low tide. After that come snorkelling at Chicken Island and a long break on Koh Poda. Boxed lunch is included; the national park fee is paid in cash on the day.

Breakfast, check-out by noon and the private drive back to Phuket International Airport, about 2.5 to 3 hours. Pick a flight that leaves in the evening so you are not racing the clock.
