Zoo Negara is Malaysia's national zoo, in Hulu Kelang on the north-east side of Kuala Lumpur. Its newest stars are the giant pandas Chen Xing and Xiao Yue, who arrived from China in November 2025 and have been on show to visitors since January 2026.

Planning your visit

Allow three to four hours, and start early: the zoo is outdoors and the afternoons get hot.
The zoo is about 30 to 40 minutes by road from central Kuala Lumpur depending on traffic. Add a private car with driver to go there and back without waiting for a taxi.
